goob tube trivia

When I checked on the drawing results on Sunday, I was told that the drawing hadn't been held yet because the people in charge weren't there, but that we'd be contacted by e-mail or snail mail if we won, since our badges had all our contact info on them. Has that drawing been held yet, and could a list of the winners be posted?

Pokemon Nats tourny

Ok, so I totally forgot to check in & get our event tickets for this. Last year was my 1st time going, my husband & kids' 3rd. If we plan on arriving on Thursday, oh 4pmish, does anyone know if we will still be able to participate in this event on Sat? Ive been reading stuff on the Pokemon forums, but its all just a guessing game at this point so I thought I would ask here & see if any one from Reg itself might see my question. My inlaws bought our badges for us for X-Mas, so I totally didnt even think about the event tickets until today. Now, Im panicing I guess you could say because here it is 4 days before Origins opens & we arent guarenteed to play. Thats a little nerve racking. Making a trip from St. Louis-Columbus isnt one where you can just turn around & go home without wasting $100's. So if any one has a sure answer, can you please let me know, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks! ~Melissa~

North Star Games will be releasing our new party game Say Anything at Origins – a month before it hits the stores! Say Anything is a light-hearted game about what you and your friends think. For instance, "What's the best movie of all time?" or "If I could have a BIG anything, what would it be?" or "What would be the best thing to train a monkey to do?" So dig deep into your heart or just come up with something witty – this is your chance to Say Anything! However, we are not running an formal events for Say Anything, so if you want to see it before the rest of the world does, and possibly win a free copy of it, you will have to come by our booth to play it! Win a chance to spin the wheel and then win prizes! • North Star Games funny money (good to purchase any North Star Games’ product) • Free t-shirts • Free games • Watch Satish do a sexy dance! Okay, not too sexy, since Origins is cracking down on that this year :( Demo Games, Win More Funny Money!
Ad-hoc (Hasbro) P-O-X wireless "tourney/meetup"

About five years ago, I bought a set of Hasbro POX wireless games but I have never just "run into" anyone else who played. I figure at least a couple of other Origins attendees must have bought these devices too, and Origins seems like a great place for some random POX encounters! So, if anyone else is interested in playing, bring your POX Containment Units to Origins and turn them on while you wander around the con. Please reply to this forum post so that everyone will know that others will be participating. I will subscribe to this thread so that I am notified of replies (and you may wish to too). Since it is probably not practical to have the POX unit turned on continuously (especially with the 15 min. auto time limit), I would suggest the following "protocol" for the ad-hoc tourney. Turn on your PCU's wireless "battle clock" at these times: 1. Whenever you are walking through the halls of the convention center in between other events. 2. While wandering the vendor's Exhibit Hall. 3. Whenever sitting in the main hallway, dining areas, or other public areas of the convention center with lots of people walking past. Please post your interest, questions, or suggestions here. If several people will participate, we may even want to have a very brief meetup in person at the end and/or beginning of the Con to meet each other and declare a "winner". Thanks! Anthony Kozar POX (tm) is a handheld wireless electronic gaming device created and sold by Hasbro several years ago. Players assemble their own "POX Infectors" by choosing from a variety of body parts with special abilities and program attack sequences for each Infector. When the wireless transceiver of the POX unit is turned on, any other POX devices in range will automatically battle with each other. POX (tm) is a registered trademark of Hasbro, Inc. I am not affiliated with Hasbro in any way.

Greetings! BJ here from Kettle of Fish Productions. I figured I'd point you folks to our Yahoo Group for character lists for our three LARPs this coming Origins. http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/KettleofFishProductions/ This year we present three different games, ShadowRun: Year of the Monkey, Legend of the Five Rings: Death and Taxes, and Fading Suns: Casino Imperiale. We use regenerated characters so that you just have to come and enjoy a wonderful story. We'd love to get characters out ahead of the con so costumes can be gathered. See you at Origins 2008

Event ticket question

I purchased an event ticket and I am positive that when I bought it, it was for a Wednesday night slot. I checked my schedule often in gleefull anticipation and each time it said wednesday. I logged in yesterday and it suddenly showed Thursday! I don't know if I was just in a blind haze for like 8 random days to not see this or if something funky happened with the event #. Either way I was lucky to catch it early and purchase a ticket for the correct night. But now I am left with this event ticket I can't use! And it's one of the higher priced Larp's. Is there any way to get refunded for it and release it back into the wild pool for others to grab??? Any advice please?

Ticket to Ride Tournament Question

I'm an Origins newbie so please forgive what's probably a dumb question. How does the Ticket to Ride Tournament work? The description says your scores are combined from the 4 different games, but there are 6 total games on the schedule (1910, Europe, Marklin, Switzerland, US, Mega). Do I need to sign up for a specific 4, any 4 I want, or all 6? Thanks!

Morton's List volunteers needed - we will hook you up!

Can you believe Origins is less than 3 weeks away?! Neither can we! I'm Nathan and we're the people behind Morton's List, the Game of Real Life Adventure. This year at Origins (our favorite con!) we're putting on WAY more events than ever before. Although it's all coming together spectacularly, we really could use a few of you awesome gamers to help out with some super simple and super fun events. In exchange we will HOOK YOU UP! How's $10/hour in credit towards free games, passes and merch sound? (We rock some of the coolest and lowest priced merch around - believe that!) Volunteer slots are typically 2 hours, though there are opportunities for a few 4 hour slots. In most cases, volunteers also participate in the event, so it's not like actual work. Just call/txt me, Nathan Andren, at 734-664-0244 (cell) ANY time - don't be shy, I'll be excited to hear from you - or email me at MortonsList@gmail.com. I'll work with your schedule so you can enjoy all the events you want and get some sweet swag for volunteering. Please pass my contact info. along to anyone you think may be interested. Leave a msg and I'll get right back to you. In case you're not familiar with Morton's List, I'll explain what we're looking for volunteers to do and list all our events below: Morton's List is a game where a small group (up to 12 players) does a random activity together. It might involve talking to each other (such as sharing stories), playing a game, interacting with people, art, or ANYTHING. That's the magic of it. No body knows that fun and perhaps memorable event will happen until it's happening. What's even better is that running a session of Morton's List is EASY. There's no set-up and no preparation! Just show up, explain how the game works (a few minutes, tops) and let the game do it's thing. As a volunteer you'll be trained to run or help with sessions by a friendly staffmember - it really is that easy. Some volunteers will be needed for the several speical events we're running for the Pirate Ninja Peace Summit. Jobs vary and could involve dressing up like a zombie, flipping a scoreboard, etc. Everything will be explained and is also very easy - no qualifications other than positivity and an open mind. EVENTS NEEDING VOLUNTEERS (slots, followed by descriptions): (We are especially interested in volunteers on Wednesday, followed by Thursday, then Friday during the day)

This is sort of a pre- and post- show event. :) I'm driving to Columbus from St. Louis on Wed. June 25 and leaving on the 29th (or possibly the 30th). I have some open seats and would like to help cover the cost of gas. My rig gets 30mpg on the highway. I have 3 open seats in a Scion Xb, though it could get tight with luggage... A little bit about me: I run the website for Armchair General magazine (a mag dedicated to military history and interactive historical fiction) and I'm going for business mainly.
Hi, All! I've attended Origins ever since it's been in Columbus, so it's not my first gaming rodeo! My question might SOUND like it, though... I'm interested in spending some time this year in the Board and/or War Rooms. I've seen some reference here and on BGG re. ribbons that one needs to do this. I'm not seeing these available anywhere! Could someone please give me some info. on these? How much, what access do they provide, are they included with a Full Show Pass automatically...anything at all? I've either pre-registered in the past for specific events OR worked demos and events for companies, so I'm totally in the dark here! Help appreciated!!! THANKS!!!

My game, Hacking in Circles (Wed 2pm-7pm and Thurs 9 am - 1pm) is four mini-rounds in two sessions. All players will play all four rounds, instead of an elimnation with head-to-head final. I change the format a little after the deadline. Hope to see some folks there :)

I have registered for the event "Den of Evil" (D&D 3.5). The description says to bring a 12th level PC, but it has no description of the character creation rules. Can someone 'in the know' pass these along? Or perhaps send me contact information on the organizer or DM (Michael Whiteman or Andy Shockney). Questions range from how to figure stats to magical items to what sourcebooks we can use. Thank you for any feedback on this! Tom Thowe

I've found an interesting bug in the catalog search. When searching for events which results in multiple pages, the second and third and fourth, etc pages display the exact same results as the first. For example, do an advanced search for games systems which contain "cthulhu". Page 2 of the results is exactly the same as the first.

Guest of Honor banquet question

I registered for this; my question is, do we have assigned seating, or is it just wherever? I have signed up along with a friend, and we certainly don't have to sit together, but of course I also don't think it'd be fun to have a table full of just people who bought a ticket, like me, and not actual GoH people. Just wondering how the seating is working for that.

Event overlap issues

I have two issues with events overlapping, and not being allowed to register for them. The First issue is, with event 0808, Jump Start Wednesday (4pm- (for your open crafting area), and 3038 Rogue Judges opening bash (6-midnight) Now, I know that technically these events DO overlap, but as they are drop in events that you don't have to be there the whole time for, I had planned on doing both. Personally, I think they should therefore be set in the system to NOT cause overlap issues, but, I can see an argument made for them to cause overlapping issues. More importantly, I tried to register for Beginning Knitting and Crochet, 0864, Sat AM 10-noon, and the Mike and Ike thing, 9659, Sat 11pm-1am. The system told me THESE events conflcit, which is completely incorrect. As an aside, when you're given the message to drop one event out of your shopping cart, there's a little x next to each event; I assumed hitting the x dropped that event from the shopping cart, but in fact you hit the x on the one you want to keep, which I found to be kind of confusing.

Duplicate Event Tickets

With Event Registration being so sudden, I am having a problem. I am attending the convention with a friend, and most of our events will be at the same time (playing games together). However, he is overseas for the rest of the week (Paris), and is unable to register for events at his location. I am wondering if I can purchase multiple event tickets for both him and myself. I was trying to remember if I could do this last year, but I seem to remember the system limiting you to not purchase event tickets that overlap. Will that still hold true this year? Can I purchase two or more of each event ticket? If so, will my friend be able to use them? Otherwise, by the time he gets back into the States, the events may be sold out! Any help on this would be appreciated. Tom Thowe

Event Times

Is there a problem with the times of events on the Excel list? I keep finding inconsitencies as I go through it. The following is an example of what I mean. There are multiple events that seem to be the same game at different times but they each have different durations. They are 6430, 6668, 6857, 7068, 7248 and 7444. This is only one example. There are many others with mismatching durations and it's not that easy to make a tight schedule. Thanks.

I love these events! I love it even more when they are lined up soon enough to pre-register for! <hint!> I recognize that these type of events present special challenges. Might I suggest setting up a likely time, and all involved know when they register that it's a maybe and they may have to get a refund. P.S. Try for some more boardgame designers. If all fields of gaming can be represented, super!
