are these over and above the $60 pre-reg what do they do? since we enjoy all types of gaming do i need all of them? are they only for weds?
and anything else you think this poor confused gamer might need to know about how the fair works |

Ribbons work sort of like priority generic tickets. IF you purchase a ribbbon for sya HOT (Historical Origins Team) it will get you into any unfilled seats in any HOT game. It works like this... People who have pre regged event tickets go first... Ribbon Holders for that type of event go next... and generic ticket holders go last. Since youand your son seem interested in a wide varity of games I would suggest skipping the ribbon... pre regging for the games your interested in... and maybe picking up a few generics on site if you want to get into a game that filled before you could register. There's usually a few no shows for full games .. or the GM's allopw an extra player or 2.
Hope that helps |

So if, for instance, I wanted to play a game of Express in the Puffing Billy area, I would NOT need a Puffing Billy ribbon to do so? Thanks for the reply in advance. |

No you do not need a ribbon to play in a specific game. You could get into your Puffing Billy game by preregging for the event ... using generic tickets to get into an open spot... or using a ribbon as you would generic tickets. All the Ribbons do is get priority over the generics... People who pre reg will still get the first seats. So pre reg if you can.

Ribbions are good for the entire run of the event. Wheather ribbons are cheaper than generics depends on how many games your playing. Games cost around 2$ for 2 hours. A generic cost $16- so if you play more than 16 hours of games the ribbon will be cheaper. Just remeber the ribbons are game type specific so if your going to play Historical Minis... train games and Board games... you'll need all three ribbons.... and that makes them less cost effective. As for getting into games on generic that depends on the games and the game masters. If a game or GM is really popular it will sell out quickly and be hard to get into at the con. Some GM's build extra slots into there game... listing it as six player but having space for 8. A lot of games will have no shows... (though the official rule of thumb is not to except generics till 15 minutes after the listed start time). So it's really a crap shoot. Also anyone with a ribbon will get priority over someone with generics... but only for specific game types. Personally I tend to prereg for games I know I want to play in advance... then register on site or pick up generics for games that srike my fancy at the con. I've never been much of a ribbon guy because I tend to play a lot of different types of games. |

We preregister for the games we're playing, just to guarantee that we'll get in. I make a schedule of what we're playing and when and just start working it out.

If you don't know what you'll want to play each day, I'd suggest generics rather than ribbons. They're more flexible. Ribbons are really for people who play a lot of one sort of thing, and that doesn't sound like what you're saying your situation is. You can also register for events onsite, if you get to the show and see somehting you particularly want on a given day. Trey Reilly |

If i'm not interested in tournaments and the like then a Board Room ribbon would just allow me to sit down, borrow one of their games, and play it in that room with people nearby - correct?
