So what hotel is the best to stay in?  The website here does a great job telling prices and how close to the convention center the hotels are, but I figured I'd ask here too.

The last time and first time I went two years ago, 4 of us stayed at the Columbus because we were late about getting our act together about getting rooms. It was a bit of a long walk if you tried walking it, but they were experimenting with trams that year, so it wasn't too bad. It also saved bit on parking which was kind of expensive at the convention center.

The rooms were pretty nice, clean, the view was great, and for the most part pretty comfortable. The only real problem with it is the ventilation in the rooms isn't the greatest in the world, making it kind of stuffy. We had three people snoring who don't normally snore.

I'm not sure if they are running trams again this year, but if you plan on gaming after 11:00PM or 11:30PM, either bring a car or get a closer hotel.

Yes, the shuttle will be running again this year as it has in years past. The schedule will be posted on the website once it is finalized. See you in a few months!

Hyatt or Drury are the only choices for me. I've been coming here since 1999 and only once in 2000 did I not stay connected. And I vowed from that day forward I would always stay onsite. Crowne Plaza is very nice as well, but the rooms are comparable to the hyatt and more expensive. And the skywalk to it can be horribly hot sometimes.

I have never been to the hampton, but it seems like it would be a pretty good choice as well. It is across the street near most of the gaming area.

I still prefer Hyatt, Drury or even the crowne over the hampton because the food court is on the way into the convention center. And the prices are pretty reasonable to pick up breakfast or dinner on your way to gaming or after.

We reserved our room at the Crowne a couple weeks ago.  We normally stay at the Hyatt, but that was sold out, the Druary as well.  Never stayed at the Crowne, but I haven't heard anything bad about it and it looks nice from the pictures.  I'd imagine the Crowne might be sold out at this point as well- if not, better grab a room fast!

The Hyatt at the convention center is not sold out.  I just booked my room 5 minutes ago.  Other than the Drury, there a no other hotels that are sold out yet.

I may have a spare reservation at the hyatt that I don't need.  Please let me know what your status is.  It is 116 a night for thurs through sunday.  2 double beds non smoking.

Doubletree:The first year I came (1999) my husband and I and two kids took a suite at the Doubletree. It's too far to walk late at night but not too bad in the daytime. We loved the privacy and having two TVs.

Hyatt Regency:The following year hubby stopped attending and we switched to the Hyatt Regency and have been there ever since. They charge for the internet, which annoys me, but it was great to hand my 12 year old a room key and a copy of my schedule and turn him loose.

Drury:In 2006 I tried to get in the Drury - asked at the Con and was told rooms became available to book in August. Tried August 1 and they were sold out. Not sure what their system is. Maybe someone who understands it will post.

Comfort Suites: If you book late and can't get closer, the Comfort Suites on Clara Street is clean and safe with a good breakfast. It is a long hike only for the intrepid. My son's friends stayed there last year.
