Fading Suns: Casino Imperiale
In the vastness of the Jumpweb there is no starship more glamorous than The Imperiale. A casino, a smuggler’s haven, a temple of excess to outshine the stars themselves. Forever beyond the reach of the Church, the Guilds, and the Empire itself, The Imperiale is home to a thousand intrigues. Dare you step aboard? LARPing in Space.
The Klingon/Federation War's Battle of Thranstor
In this miniatures game the Klingon War has been going on for almost three years and the Federation is gaining the upper hand. Star Fleet Intelligence has intercepted communications from a Klingon attack force heading toward Star Base 15 in the Adhara system. All available Federation ships are being diverted to the Thranstor system to intercept this Klingon force.
And as I Reach Out for the Stars…
What is our attraction to space, the final frontier? Is it because it is the last great unknown or is it our constant desire to expand and feel we are in control of our environment? Join this seminar with your opinion.

The Kobold Midnight Massacre IX – So Long and Thanks For All the Babies!
After 9 years of Kobold Midnight Massacres wreak havoc at ORIGINS, Kobolds are about to go….into Space, the Final Frontier! These are the voyages of the starship(s) Enterprise Your five hour mission to seek out new life (and eat it) and new civilizations (and mock them), to KO-Boldly Go where no Kobold has gone before! Do-do-do-do-do-do-do! (and Hertz and Avis).
The 9th Level Team returns to bring hundreds of gamers together to cause mischief, mayhem, and maximum kobold body count (now with phasers set to fricassee). This year’s Kobold Midnight Massacre will feature a unique “starship command crew” mechanic, with all of the traditional beer and pretzels dice-chucking, over-the-top, fan-favorite madness. This is a must play - never to be repeated event – celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Kobolds Ate My Baby Game, and feeding (pun intended) your need for bad Shatner impressions, planetary bombardment, horrible random transporter accidents, and more Red Shirt Deaths than you can possibly imagine!! All Hail Captain Torg!
First Contact.
What do we do now? What will the human reaction be to meeting our first extra-terrestrials? Will they come in peace, or shoot to kill? What will our governments do in return? If they ask to be taken to our leader, would you? It’s going to happen someday folks, if it hasn’t already. Join this seminar and let’s talk about the likely reaction our world will have.
Captain Looney's Homeworld Academy
Binary Homeworlds is one of the most difficult Icehouse games to learn, but once mastered is also one of the most rewarding. Andy Looney will start out by explaining the basics then he'll show off some of the most complicated maneuvers you can use to vaporize your opponent's Homeworld. Examples will be presented using giant pyramids of this table top game!
Galactic Emperor
Galactic Emperor is a fast paced empire-building game of exploration, conflict and struggle for dominance. The last Galactic Emperor has met with a sudden and quite fatal accident. Now there is a power vacuum in the galaxy, and you’re one of the Planetary Dukes who wants to fill it. Each player controls a space sector with a home planet, and for a time, shares the power of the galactic throne. During the fight for control, the central Omega Sun is heading toward collapse… a cataclysm that will only accelerate the chaos! The game plays over several rounds, and within each round, the roles players choose determine what happens next. There are 7 different types of roles: Explorer, Steward, Merchant, Engineer, Warlord, Regent, and Scientist. All players get a turn to act during each role. Players discover planets, gain resources, build ships, and attack space fleets in a desperate effort to grind foes into cosmic dust! The player with the most victory points at the end of the game wins, becoming the ultimate Galactic Emperor! A new boardgame from Cross Cut Games Inc.
Martian Chess Tournament
This game plays similarly to Chess, using similar mechanics. However, Martian Chess uses some different features than Chess: control of pieces is determined by location rather than color and it is playable with more than two players. For seasoned chess players, Martian Chess has subtle paradigm shifts that offer convention-challenging lessons. Stop by the Looney Lab before the tournament for a quick demo – easy to learn, and fun to master! Medallion awarded to the Winner!
What Makes Aliens Alien?
Robotic, Organic, Reptilian, Living Energy, or just plain Slimey. Join this seminar to discuss how to portray a realistic alien race in your game – to really get into physical differences, geography, history and culture, rather than having another blue human.
XIXth International Icehouse Tournament
Icehouse is the game that spawned all other pyramid games (and Looney Labs as a whole). This contest of pure abstract strategy is a game of simple attacks and defenses, but it's played without turns on a free-form surface and requires both hand-eye coordination and good diplomatic skills. Now in its 19th year, this historic tournament attracts the most dedicated and hard-core Icehouse players, but all are welcome! Medallions for the players who advance to the Finals, and the storied Cooler than Ice award for style of play.
