Origins Game Club Protocols
Game clubs are a vital part of the event schedule at Origins; they bring large tournaments, special events, and a group of events that players can count on to be consistent and fun. For that reason, we do all we can to support those clubs in their organization of their events, as well as in helping them combine the efforts of each member for the mutual benefit of the whole group.
You might notice we are calling this something different from last year. That’s because we want to establish a clear distinction between the guidelines and policies we apply to group participation in the Origins International Game Expo and the much larger program associated with the Game Manufacturer’s Association – the GAMA Clubs and Organizations Program. The latter is a year-long program, set up for game clubs and related groups around the world so that they can join GAMA and gain benefits and participation in the community that is the hobby and social game industry.
If you believe your club or group would be interested in getting more involved with GAMA and the industry, please let us know. We’d love to have you join us.
The Origins Game Club Protocols specifically address the expectations – and the rewards – for any group that brings a collective slate of games to Origins. As was done last year, we will be allowing clubs to collect the total number of hours they commit to the convention into one aggregate whole, making it easier for them to qualify for the rooms or other benefits they may wish to take advantage of. Group organizers should contact Trey Reilly at programs@gama.org.
