Origins Game Fair is proud to bring you a wide assortment of events to choose from every year: RPGs, Miniatures, Tabletops, LARPs, and CCGs.

But there are events that transcend categories or have no real category to call home. Some of these events are unique to Origins and can be found nowhere else. These Special Events help to make your Origins Experience like none other.

While it's too early to release the events for 2009, here's a few of the events from Origins 2008, to remind you of the fun we all had last year and tease your imagination about the events to come:

• Smithee Awards XVII:  Almost Legal - An Origins Exclusive, The Smithee Awards celebrate the best in bad movies. The winners are decided by audience ballot, so come view, laugh, and vote!
• Super Dimensional Karaoke! - Presented by Sho ‘Nuff entertainment, South Florida's most exciting Karaoke experience made it's inaugural voyage to Origins Game Fair, in 2008 and was a huge hit with Origins attendees.
• Mayfair Ribbon Program - In this popular program from our friends at Mayfair Games, players can earn resource ribbons by playing in Mayfair Games events, demos in the Mayfair booth, or seminars.
• The Origins Film Room - Screenings daily of films about or related to gaming, with such titles as "Second Skin", "The Call of Cthulhu", "Obsession", and "Love and Plutonium".
• Origins Auction - Over the years, the Origins auction has provided hundreds of attendees with the money to pay all or part of their costs in attending Origins, as well as extra dollars to buy stuff in the exhibitor hall.
• Play with a Creator Series - In 2004, Origins introduced a signature series of events which give you opportunity to play a game with that game’s creator. There’s something really special about going head-to-head with the designer, and trying to beat them at their own game!
• GAMA Retailer Summit - Retailers - join our GAMA Retail Division Board Members and expert retailers in our series of seminars and round tables, teach you the tips and tricks of the trade.
• Origins Premiere Track - The Premiere Track is a chance for manufacturers to debut games that are showing up at their first Origins (post-release) and to get get a great cross-section of beta testers for products still in development. Come help great games to be born!
• Nintendo DS Competition – Electronic Versions of the Games we Love! - More and more games are achieving their own electronic counterparts. Origins 2008 included a Nintendo DS program highlighting several electronic versions of games already enjoyed at Origins.
• Hall of Fame’s Guest of Honor Banquet - The Guest of Honor Banquet is a very limited-seating event that gives you an opportunity to share a meal and some quiet conversation with our Hall of Fame inductees and our Guests of Honor. Every year, a new once-in-a-lifetime experience!
• TerrorWerks: Planetfall - An original live-action event, returning to Origins after their triumphant debut in 2007 -  join the crew from PST Productions, and step into their new adventure! Air-Soft weaponry provided. With electronic effects, amazing scenery, and the brilliance of the PST crew, this event will have to be experienced to be believed!
• The Origins Blood Drive - Co-sponsored by the Red Cross and One World by Night, we were proud to have the Origins Blood Drive back once again. Come spend an hour, and give something back – show that gamers can help!
• Mensa Test - Do you have what it takes to join Mensa? The Mensa Admission Test takes two hours to complete and includes two tests featuring questions involving logic and deductive reasoning. If you score at or above the 98th percentile on either of the two tests, you will qualify and be invited to join Mensa.
• Knights of the Dinner Table - Live Reading - Hilarious, interactive Knights of the Dinner Table Live Reading in which members of the audience read the part of a character from past KoDT comic strips!  Chance to win prizes!
• Meet the KenzerCo Crew! - Hang out with the award-winning staff of Kenzer and Company. See product previews, play in a trivia contest, have a Q&A about upcoming products, and just generally have a fun time!
• Settlers of Catan World Qualifier Tournaments - The World Tournament came to the U.S. in 2008, and that meant that Origins will host not one, but TWO The Settlers of Catan World Qualifier tournaments!
• Carnival of the Damned - Back again, brought to you by Twilight Creations! Step right up and get your 50 zombies, play the games and have the most zombies at the end of the evening.  Many games. Many prizes. Much Fun!
• Life-Sized Haunting House - Try this life-sized version of The Haunting House with many twists and turns.  Be the first one out of the house.
• Zombies Bag Toss - Use your throwing skills to distinguish yourself from your fellow gamers.  Winner advanced to finals on Sunday.  Big Prizes!!!
• The Kobold Midnight Massacre IX – So Long and Thanks for all the Babies! - After 9 years of Kobold Midnight Massacres wreaking havoc at Origins, Kobolds went….into Space, the Final Frontier!  These are the voyages of the starship(s) Enterprize (and Hertz and Avis).  Your five hour mission to seek out new life (and eat it) and new civilizations (and mock them), to KO-Boldly Go where no Kobold has gone before!  All Hail Captain Torg!
