Make It Work for You

Some people want to be steps from the hall. Some want a quiet place to recharge. Some turn it into a full trip with friends.
Columbus gives you options for all of it.
Getting Around
You’ll be surprised how much is within walking distance of the Greater Columbus Convention Center, especially in the Short North and downtown. But when you’re ready to go a little farther, Columbus makes it easy to get where you need to go quickly.
-
Many restaurants, coffee shops, and hangout spots are located within a short distance of the convention center. For some attendees, that means an easy walk. For others, it means a quick, accessible trip using a mobility device or a short ride on well maintained sidewalks.
The key thing to know: you won’t need to go far to find good options.
-
When you do need a ride, these are your best bets:
Uber – Widely available, fast pickups around the convention center, especially during peak hours
Lyft – Comparable to Uber and often worth checking both apps for pricing and wait times
Yellow Cab of Columbus – A reliable local option with wheelchair-accessible vehicles available, making it a great choice for attendees needing mobility support
✏️ PRO TIP: During peak times (morning rush, evening events), expect a little surge pricing and longer wait times. Planning ahead helps.
-
Columbus public transit (COTA) runs throughout downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. It’s a solid option if you’re staying a bit farther out or heading to areas outside the immediate convention district.
How close are the stops?
This is actually one of the best parts:
Closest stop: ~1 minute walk (literally across the street)
Cost of Public Transit
COTA is very straightforward:
Single ride: $2
Peak/rush routes: up to $3
Daily cap: about $4.50 max per day
Coverage & Usefulness
COTA runs 40+ routes across Columbus
Buses run frequently through downtown
Routes connect:
Hotels outside downtown
Neighborhoods like German Village, Short North, Arena District
Airport connections
There’s also a downtown circulator route that runs frequently along High Street through the main areas attendees care about.
-
Depending on availability, you’ll find rentable bikes and electric scooters throughout downtown. These are great for short trips when you don’t feel like waiting on a ride.
-
If you’re driving to Origins, the Greater Columbus Convention Center (GCCC) has multiple garages and lots directly attached or immediately adjacent to the building, making it easy to get from your car to the show without going far.

The GCCC is supported by several connected or near-connected parking facilities, with over 4,700 total spaces across garages and lots.
Here are the primary options:
Ohio Center Garage (400 N High St)
Directly connected to the convention center
Covered access into Battelle Hall
One of the closest and most convenient options

Pricing & What to Expect
Parking rates vary based on time and demand, but here’s a realistic breakdown:
Hourly rates typically range from $1–$20 depending on duration
Standard event flat rate is typically around $25 per day
Premium events may increase up to $30 per day
During Origins, expect event pricing to apply.
Important things to know:
No in-and-out privileges during event parking
Rates are per space (larger vehicles may be charged for multiple spaces)
Staying overnight may incur additional charges
Accessibility & Convenience
All garages are well-lit, professionally managed, and open daily
Many garages offer covered or indoor access to the convention center
Elevators and accessible parking spaces are available throughout
If accessibility is a priority, the Ohio Center Garage and South Garage tend to offer the most direct and protected access into the building.
Planning Ahead
Check real-time parking availability before arriving to avoid circling garages
Expect heavier traffic and longer entry/exit times during:
Morning arrival (badge pickup + hall opening)
Evening events and hall closing
✏️ Pro Tips
The closer garages (Ohio Center, South) fill first - have a backup in mindIf you’re arriving later in the day, Goodale or Vine are often easier to access
Allow extra time during peak hours - downtown traffic stacks up quickly
If you’re staying downtown, consider leaving your car parked for the day and using nearby options for food and activities
-
Staying downtown means everything is close, whether you’re walking, rolling, or taking a short ride
Use both Uber and Lyft to compare prices during busy times
If you need accessibility support, Yellow Cab’s accessible vehicles are a dependable option
Plan extra time during morning entry and evening exits - those are the busiest travel windows
