heArt of the Hero is 2 friends (Dawn and Sheila) that run crafting classes at GenCon and Origins. We enjoy sharing our love for crafts with others, and provide hands on training to allow people to repeat the craft at home.
This year we are offering PomPom classes. Learn how to make PomPoms (and keep the tool) to make a Worry Pet or Key Chain. We also have a chair yoga and Neurographic drawing class.
Workshops and Classes
Neurographic Drawing: Has the weekend at the Con been a bit stressful? Do you need a break so you can finish strong? This drawing class will teach you a mindful, abstract art method using pen/ink and colored pencils.
You will practice the art of creating space for yourself to think and breathe. Neurographic art transforms chaos into something calming and peaceful. The art you create is about self-expression, self-care and finding some inner peace within your day. Tickets
Chair Yoga for Gamers: Are you a gamer, tired and tight from sitting and playing games for hours at a time? Chair yoga offers a practical and accessible form of self-care that promotes health, physical relaxation and emotional balance. By incorporating gentle movements, stretching, breathwork and mindfulness, gamers can reduce stress and alleviate tension from prolonged sitting.
You will sit in a chair for the entire class. All movements and stretches are done while sitting. The exercises and stretches can be used while sitting at a desk at work as well as gaming. If you have questions please email us at heartofthehero@zoho.com Tickets
Pom Pom Worry Pet: Would you like a soft, fuzzy creature to sit next to you while gaming? Join us for a fun and creative class where you will learn to craft your very own unique worry pet using yarn and a pompom making tool (which you keep).
You will be guided step-by-step on how to use the pompom making tool to make a large pompom using colorful yarn. You get to keep the tool for future projects at home. You then add eyes and feet to create a comforting companion to have during the convention and future gaming experiences. Some manual dexterity is required to wrap the yarn on the pompom making tool, cut the yarn and shape the pompom. We provide lots of hands-on training and help.
You will leave with a completed Worry Pet along with written instructions and pompom making tool (yours to keep) to use at home. All materials are provided, just bring your imagination.
Pom Pom Keychain with optional diffuser: During this class you will create two colorful pompoms in different sizes. You then get creative by stringing the pompoms together with beads and tassels to create a unique keychain. Optionally, you can infuse the pompoms with essential oils for a personalized aromatic experience.
Some manual dexterity is required to wrap the yarn on the pompom making tool, cut the yarn and shape the pompoms. We provide lots of hands-on training and help.
You will leave with a completed keychain that you can use for keys, hang from a car mirror or dangle from you backpack or purse.
You will learn to use a pompom maker (which you keep after the class). You will learn to wrap yarn on the form, cut and tie the pompom. You can choose from a variety of yarn colors.
